The Biomedical Science MSc program offers customizable study paths with diverse elective modules alongside core curriculum. You can combine microbiology, molecular biology, haematology, and clinical chemistry studies or integrate fundamental science with science communication and commercialization courses. This adaptable approach enables you to expand your knowledge of human diseases, their diagnosis, and treatment while refining your research design and implementation capabilities.
Cancer Biology:
This component examines critical signaling pathways and molecular processes involved in cancer development, including cancer stem cells' function in metastasis. It covers modern diagnostic techniques, treatment innovations, public health prevention strategies, and media representation of cancer-related topics.
Professional Recognition
This program currently lacks Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) accreditation, though re-accreditation is being pursued with an anticipated decision by December 2024.
Important Note: Prospective students without an IBMS-approved Biomedical Sciences undergraduate degree who seek HCPC registration as UK Biomedical Scientists should consult the IBMS regarding qualification suitability. The IBMS evaluates non-accredited degrees against HCPC requirements to identify any necessary supplementary education for meeting professional standards.
