Our Foundation year degree programs provide a pathway to prepare for advanced studies before continuing to a complete honors degree at the University of Westminster.
Whether you seek to enhance your knowledge and skills for degree-level education or wish to shift your academic focus, we welcome diverse students to join our Foundation year as a stepping stone toward a full honors degree.
The Architecture and Design Foundation year introduces you to creative fields that influence interior, building, and urban design. Through hands-on projects, you'll explore spatial, technical, and cultural concepts while building foundational skills for further education. The first semester starts with urban space design studies, followed by a materials project in our state-of-the-art Fabrication Laboratory at the Marylebone campus. These are complemented by studio and fieldwork to refine your drawing and creative abilities. In the second semester, you'll redesign existing spaces before pursuing a self-directed creative project. Foundation students can showcase their work at the School of Architecture and Cities summer exhibition. Throughout both semesters, you'll also take modules to strengthen academic writing and critical thinking skills.
