Warwick's PhD/MPhil in Renaissance Studies provides a chance to engage with a vibrant, globally recognized research community. As part of the Centre for the Study of the Renaissance (CSR), you'll receive expert support while pursuing your research.
PhD/MPhil students in Renaissance Studies dedicate their time to producing a dissertation of up to 80,000 words over a maximum of four years. You'll collaborate closely with one or two supervisors from the Centre's affiliated departments, including Classics, English, History, History of Art, and the School of Modern Languages and Cultures.
The program fosters interdisciplinary development while enhancing expertise in palaeography and both ancient and modern languages. Warwick's CSR is a global pioneer in doctoral education, offering an annual training program (Resources and Techniques for the Study of Renaissance and Early Modern Culture) in partnership with the Warburg Institute.
Students gain access to an Early Career Club and the Centre's extensive international network, featuring collaborations with institutions like Johns Hopkins University (student exchange) and Monash University (Prato Consortium).
Our doctoral community is close-knit, moderately sized, and receives exceptional support. We actively assist applicants in securing financial aid.
