The MA in Film and Television Studies Research provides students with prior experience in these fields the opportunity to collaborate with Warwick's internationally renowned faculty. Our department is globally recognized for its excellence in teaching and researching film and television aesthetics, history, and theory. Unlike Media Studies, Communications Studies, or Journalism programs, our MA emphasizes methodologies similar to those used in English Literature, History, and Art History rather than sociological approaches to media industries. This is a theory-focused program that does not include practical filmmaking instruction.
This program is intended for students with academic training in film and/or television studies. Ideal candidates typically hold first-class undergraduate degrees, have clear PhD aspirations, and seek to expand their knowledge in specific areas to support their future doctoral research.
Warwick's Department of Film and Television Studies ranks among the world's best, providing exceptional training in audio-visual literacy - an increasingly crucial skill in today's society.
This MA allows you to leverage our faculty's distinguished expertise to create a customized program that prepares you for advanced doctoral study.
