This program addresses major challenges confronting global leaders today, including: armed conflicts, extremist threats, security concerns, ecological decline, global warming, disease outbreaks, economic deprivation, and social disparities.
Historically, International Relations (IR) as a field has concentrated on matters of conflict and diplomacy, analyzing how nations interact within the international political framework. Yet, post-Cold War developments and evolving IR perspectives have revealed the shortcomings of this traditional view, emphasizing the importance of incorporating unconventional subjects typically excluded from classical IR studies.
Throughout this course, you'll explore the nature of theoretical frameworks and conceptualization, examine fundamental IR theories ranging from Realism to Postcolonialism, and develop skills to interpret and implement these theories when analyzing both past events and current affairs. The program ultimately prepares students to critically assess theoretical perspectives in relation to urgent matters in modern political discourse.
