A degree in modern languages provides you with exceptional communication, analytical, and research abilities that employers highly value. The German and Theatre Studies (BA) program enables you to gain thorough expertise in German language and culture while delving into theatrical and performance studies.
This program offers the chance to build comprehensive understanding of German language and culture alongside examining performance and theatre studies through both practical and academic approaches.
Students gain from the combined expertise of both departments, discovering connections between these disciplines. This includes studying cultural and historical modules in the School of Modern Languages, where you'll examine theatre through your chosen languages, while also exploring the intercultural focus of the Theatre and Performance Studies Department, covering areas like African theatre, contemporary European performance, applied theatre, and dramatic writing.
Typically, you'll spend either your second or third year overseas, strengthening and expanding your knowledge. For beginners in German, the year abroad usually occurs in the third year.
