Explore crowd dynamics, cognitive processes, and neuroscience while collaborating with expert mentors on your research journey. As one of the UK's most comprehensive psychology departments, Sussex offers a vibrant academic community where you'll work alongside fellow postgraduate researchers, postdocs, and leading faculty members.
Our program offers both PhD and MPhil options, with distinct requirements and timelines for each qualification.

A PhD requires you to produce significant, original research that advances knowledge in your field.
An MPhil involves independent research at a more focused scope than a PhD, culminating in a Master of Philosophy degree. Students may have the opportunity to upgrade from MPhil to PhD during their studies.
