Zoology explores animal life, examining their behaviors, evolutionary processes, and global impact. Our approachable professors specialize in animal behavior, preservation, and development—from great white sharks and spider monkeys to honeybees and cuttlefish—and will ignite your enthusiasm for the field.

At Sussex, you'll engage directly with Zoology. The University's location offers an ideal setting to observe British wildlife, with the South Downs National Park and coastline just moments away. You'll participate in diverse field excursions, ranging from local sites to international destinations.

In your final Masters year, you'll refine sophisticated research techniques by collaborating with a Zoology research team. This hands-on training prepares you for a career in scientific investigation. Our partnerships with various institutions also help you explore professional paths in areas such as:

wildlife conservation
ecological stewardship
habitat restoration.
