This extended undergraduate program offers the flexibility to earn either a BSc (Hons) after three years or an undergraduate Masters (MZool) upon completing the fourth year. The final year provides a distinctive chance to undertake an in-depth research project in laboratory or field settings. Our Zoology program focuses entirely on animal studies, delivering comprehensive training in modern zoological sciences. You'll examine animal diversity, anatomy, evolution, and ecology across major species groups through a selection of specialized modules. The curriculum covers both invertebrate and vertebrate zoology, with applied topics like animal behavior, entomology, parasitology, developmental biology, evolutionary studies, and environmental interactions. Fieldwork opportunities exist locally and internationally, alongside chances to assist in research labs and animal care facilities. During your studies at Bangor, you'll develop crucial technical and transferable skills in experimental methods, data analysis, teamwork, presentations, scientific writing, and information technology. The program combines modern biological resources with access to diverse ecosystems for essential fieldwork components. Our facilities include a Natural History Museum and collaboration with Environment Centre Wales, plus specialized animal housing, aquaria, advanced laboratories, and modern teaching spaces. The degree includes optional international exchange opportunities in Year 2 at European or American universities, with Placement Year and International Experience Year options available.

GCSE: grade C/4 in English, Maths and Double Award Science, if not demonstrated by the Level 3 qualification/s. Offers are tariff based, 120 - 136 tariff points from a Level 3 qualification e.g.: A Levels: Including grade C in Biology if studying 1 other science subject (Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Psychology, Environment Science, Geography, Geology); or grade B in Biology if not studying another science subject. General Studies and Key Skills not normally accepted. BTEC National Extended Diploma: DDM - DDD, including Merits in 4 Biology modules.
