Politics is deeply intertwined with human society, and our curriculum mirrors this connection. Our cross-disciplinary method transcends traditional academic boundaries between sociology, social theory, political theory, and political philosophy. Students can engage with diverse research areas such as: European schools of social theory, political sociology, and critical theories from Marxism to the Frankfurt School Anglo-American political philosophy, Kantian to Rawlsian constructivism, and communitarian or neo-Aristotelian approaches key thinkers in social and political philosophy, spanning from Aristotle to Habermas contemporary debates in postcolonial studies, gender theory, and critical race theory. The program offers both PhD and MPhil options, differing in duration and research scope. A PhD requires significant original contributions to your field of study, while an MPhil involves independent research with a narrower focus, culminating in a Master of Philosophy degree. Students may have the option to transition from an MPhil to a PhD during their studies.
