The MLitt and MPhil in Peacebuilding and Mediation offer an in-depth examination of how formal peacebuilding and mediation efforts interact with grassroots, community-led initiatives. Participants will: evaluate both grassroots and institutional conflict resolution strategies, define peace and its connection to violence, examine the interplay between official peacebuilding structures and alternative informal processes, recognize major stakeholders in peacebuilding and mediation, participate in community-driven peace initiatives, consider feminist and decolonial perspectives on traditional peacebuilding, and, thoughtfully examine the timing and locations where peace and violence occur.
