Become part of our vibrant community of PhD candidates tackling pressing global development challenges. Our doctoral program stands out for its exceptional diversity among students, faculty, and research topics. Every project confronts contemporary worldwide issues affecting societies globally. You'll collaborate with leading specialists from both natural and social sciences whose innovative research has profoundly influenced individuals, institutions, and communities internationally. As part of the School of Global Studies, you'll join one of the UK's most substantial doctoral research networks in International Development, where students actively shape their academic journey. The program offers both PhD and MPhil options, differing in duration and research scope. A PhD requires groundbreaking original contributions to your field, while an MPhil involves independent research at a more introductory level, culminating in a Master of Philosophy degree. Students may have the opportunity to upgrade from MPhil to PhD during their studies.
