Examine and evaluate how international development initiatives, programs, and policies are structured and administered across governmental, private, and non-governmental sectors. In this course, you'll study how organizations adapt to the dynamic field of international development, with particular attention to the decision-making processes behind development interventions. You'll engage with major discussions in development management theory and practice to deepen your insight into the real-world obstacles institutions and professionals encounter when planning and executing change. This foundation will enable you to thoughtfully assess these challenges and devise more effective solutions. Additionally, you'll gain knowledge about overseeing development projects and programs. This program combines expertise from Bath's Department of Social & Policy Sciences and School of Management, providing a comprehensive perspective on current international development issues by incorporating both social and business dimensions that shape policy decisions. Learning approach Anticipate dedicating roughly 35-40 hours weekly to your studies, including about 10 hours of scheduled instruction. This will involve a mix of lectures, seminars, and workshops, with opportunities for both individual and collaborative small-group work. Evaluation methods You'll encounter diverse assessment approaches tailored to foster professional growth, consisting of coursework such as essays, reports, presentations, and group projects, culminating in a dissertation or final project centered on international development management.
You should have a bachelor’s honours degree or international equivalent, typically a 2:1 or above. IELTS: 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in all components. The Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic): 62 with no less than 59 in any element. TOEFL IBT: 90 overall with a minimum 21 in all 4 components.
