Cultural Studies critically examines everyday life and the profound mundanity of our world.
Exploring cultural consumption, mainstream culture, diverse societies, shared values, and the political extremes of cultural movements means understanding culture as experienced and practiced. At Sussex, Cultural Studies research can employ humanities-based (textual) techniques or social science (evidence-based) methodologies, or blend both approaches.
The Sussex Centre for Cultural Studies stands as the University's most extensive research hub, offering workshops, conferences, and events featuring prominent guest speakers - all open to your participation. Our distinguished academics employ groundbreaking techniques and contemporary perspectives to study culture, influence, and social action. Suitable projects may receive joint supervision from faculty in other departments.
