Food represents a multifaceted development challenge intersecting with hunger, food security, nutrition, environmental sustainability, political dynamics, equity concerns, and cultural heritage. This issue spans both worldwide and community-level perspectives, highlighting the difficult compromises arising in our globalized world. Our MA program leverages the extensive knowledge of faculty from both IDS and Sussex's School of Global Studies (your academic home). You'll develop sophisticated insights into the intricate connections between food systems and development. The course enhances your analytical and practical capabilities, strengthening your ability to examine critical topics like: nutritional security, environmentally sound food production, supply chain dynamics and corporate influence, agricultural technologies and related debates. We emphasize cultivating both scholarly and professional competencies - including critical analysis, academic writing, and effective communication. Additionally, you'll acquire comprehensive training in social science research methodologies and develop autonomous investigation skills.
