Our research programs equip you for achievement throughout every phase of your doctoral project. The Music PhD framework offers comprehensive graduate training for professional advancement, accommodating both part-time and full-time students. As a researcher in our Department, you'll undertake a study within our specialized research domains. The program culminates with a thesis submission, practical components for practice-based doctorates, and an oral defense with external evaluators.
All Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences doctoral candidates receive three tiers of research preparation: institutional, departmental, and discipline-focused. University-wide training includes the Postgraduate Skills Development Program and Library resources, featuring doctoral orientation, academic writing seminars, and guidance for milestone reviews. An annual university-wide graduate conference organized by students further enhances this training.

With our celebrated strengths in music studies, performance, creative composition, and the esteemed Institute of Sound Recording, we maintain partnerships with prominent figures across entertainment, audio engineering, and the recording sector among our network of collaborators and graduates.
