Pursuing a Biomedical Science degree will enhance your understanding of scientific research related to human health and disease, teaching you how the body works and how illnesses impact it. You'll gain comprehensive insights into biomedicine while specializing in areas like medical microbiology, immunology, cellular pathology, hematology, and clinical biochemistry.
While the curriculum matches that of Biomedical Science, this program includes a 40-week placement in an NHS laboratory between your second and final year. Placements depend on availability and require an interview with the provider. This practical experience enables you to complete your IBMS registration portfolio, making you eligible to register as a Biomedical Scientist with the HCPC after graduation.
