For professionals and academics passionate about advancing human rights, Strathclyde's distinguished program offers comprehensive training alongside a welcoming community of scholars, legal experts, and policy specialists. Human rights frameworks fundamentally rely on legal foundations. This course enables law graduates, professionals, and students from related fields to master human rights legislation across UK, European, and global contexts while examining its societal influence. Participants can engage with the Centre for the Study of Human Rights Law, Scotland's exclusive academic hub in this field. The program features three flexible exit pathways: Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma, and Masters, with options to transition between levels based on academic progress. Program Structure Students may complete the LLM full-time in one year or part-time over two years. The degree requires six modules (five mandatory, one elective) plus either a 15,000-word dissertation, research proposal, professional internship, or project. The Postgraduate Diploma requires six modules, while the Certificate requires three. Career Pathways Our partnership with the University Careers Service provides job search support and professional development resources. Graduates pursue academic research (MPhil/PhD) or roles with NGOs and international bodies like UN agencies, specializing in human rights advocacy and policy. A first or upper second-class Honours degree in any discipline (some law content recommended). Entry may be possible with other qualifications, especially where the applicant’s work experience is relevant to the course.

IELTS condition 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 5.5 in each component
TOEFL (ibt): 80 overall, with the following minimum scores in each component: Listening: 17 Reading: 18 Speaking: 20 Writing: 18
