You'll experience dynamic learning through hands-on training and collaborative exchanges in our multilingual environment. Note: Italian must be paired with another language.Curriculum OverviewThis program provides both theoretical foundations and practical teaching skills. The PGDE follows a modular structure with three year-long components:Education Studies; Core ValuesInquiry-Based Professional DevelopmentInstructional MethodsCurriculum Design and Teaching StrategiesClassroom ApplicationThe PGDE model combines on-campus sessions with extended placement periods. Modules run concurrently, with learning building progressively.Campus sessions introduce curriculum frameworks, foster peer collaboration, and develop lesson planning skills. You'll practice micro-teaching and explore creative approaches to student engagement.Placement ExperienceEighteen weeks are spent in Scottish schools, with ongoing evaluation against Provisional Registration standards.Full-time attendance is required, including staff development days unless otherwise instructed.Placements transform theory into practice, allowing you to refine teaching methods, experiment with techniques, and build student relationships.Maintain a professional portfolio documenting your growth, which serves as evidence for certification and lays groundwork for lifelong learning.Career Pathways

An ordinary degree, or international equivalent. Degree must include: 80 SCQF credits in the language you wish to teach (if you wish to teach your native language, All the languages taught in Scotland are valuable – there is no hierarchy of language. The entry requirements outlined take account of the context in which languages are taught. Where possible, applicants should offer more than one language. The University of Strathclyde requires a minimum overall score of IELTS 6.5 (no individual test score below 5.5) or equivalent. Tests are valid for two years. TOEFL ibt - 80 overall, with the following minimum scores in each component-(Listening- 17, Reading- 18, Speaking- 20, Writing- 18).
