The modern media landscape extends far beyond conventional print and broadcast journalism. It encompasses professional bloggers and vloggers, independent writers and editors, podcast creators, entertainment professionals in TV, radio, and film, developers of video games and interactive applications, marketing specialists, and numerous other roles. Top performers in today's media field don't just excel at reporting, writing, editing, and presenting content—they're also exceptional communicators across all platforms and skilled problem-solvers. They demonstrate creativity, business acumen, courage, intellectual curiosity, adaptability, and teamwork. These qualities align with Strathclyde's fundamental principles that shape our educational approach, research initiatives, and community involvement. Social Policy analyzes how societies allocate resources and design services to address both individual and collective requirements. Critical topics in this field include poverty; disparities based on economics, race, age, and gender; social equity; healthcare; education; criminal justice; and housing. The discipline employs both qualitative and quantitative research methods to enhance our understanding of societal resource management and progress measurement. This program enables students to explore the socioeconomic issues specific to Scotland while considering their global context, incorporating insights from history, sociology, anthropology, economics, legal studies, psychology, social anthropology, and political science.
