Journalism and media serve as essential pillars of democratic society, and this program provides a pathway to an exciting career that's dynamic, multifaceted, and fundamentally important for shaping public discourse on issues impacting communities.

You'll get hands-on experience by participating in DMU's student-run Demon Media organization, creating content across multiple platforms such as print publications, radio broadcasts, digital video channels, and online news sites.

The curriculum features diverse elective options covering specialized areas like Sports Journalism, Lifestyle Reporting, Legal Journalism, Arts Coverage, and Music Journalism. During your final year, you can opt to undertake either an academic thesis or a substantial professional journalism production.

Our faculty maintains active connections with news organizations, with many instructors currently working or having worked for Leicestershire's print and broadcast media outlets. These industry relationships give our Journalism program strong local media ties and an outstanding reputation that helps students secure valuable internships.
