Internationally recognized for groundbreaking research, our Faculty of Natural Sciences examines the interplay between human activity, technology, and the environment. We provide PhD programs guided by leading experts, with research students playing a vital role in our accomplishments. Ecology PhD candidates will become part of a dynamic research community focused on uncovering the core mechanisms behind biodiversity at all scales, from molecular to ecosystem levels. Our work investigates environmental transformations across timescales - from yearly changes to millennia-long shifts - to forecast and address the consequences of human-driven and natural changes. We regularly secure significant funding from prestigious organizations including the Natural Environment Research Council, Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, Leverhulme Trust, charitable foundations, and corporate partners.
