Pursuing a PhD in Ecology and Environmental Management at the University of Brighton means joining a distinguished team of researchers driving tangible environmental impact at local, national, and international levels.

Our work supports the university's Centre for Aquatic Environments, recognized as one of its prestigious Centres of Research and Enterprise Excellence (COREs), along with the Environment and Public Health Research and Enterprise Group (REG). This provides diverse supervision opportunities spanning interdisciplinary studies in ecology, environmental science, sustainability, and pollution control.

Our faculty and doctoral candidates lead pioneering research initiatives worldwide - from examining human-wildlife coexistence to innovating remote sensing techniques for global forest biomass evaluation. Current investigations also focus on climate change effects and invasive species in wetland ecosystems, plus the dynamics of zoonotic disease transmission.
