Developing strong problem-solving abilities and mastering fundamental mathematics are among the most valuable skills young learners can acquire. These competencies form the foundation for everything from personal finance management to advanced data analysis and artificial intelligence. Our Secondary Mathematics PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) offers you an opportunity to profoundly impact students' futures. This program will provide you with effective teaching methodologies to become a self-assured educator for Key Stages 3 and 4. Through placements in nearby schools, you'll design dynamic lessons, learn classroom management strategies, and understand student learning processes. University sessions will focus on subject-specific pedagogical reflection and personalized guidance. Beyond teacher certification, as part of our Institute of Education, you'll gain insights into cutting-edge classroom research and evidence-based teaching practices.
During the PGCE, you'll investigate innovative approaches to teaching mathematics creatively. Our collaboration with a local LEGO studio offers unique opportunities to demonstrate mathematical concepts. Practical teaching placements will allow you to implement various instructional methods, including mastery techniques, while helping students develop logical thinking skills. From navigating your induction period to delivering your inaugural lesson, your dedicated tutor will provide continuous support. We've established strong relationships with school mentors to enhance your placement experiences.
