Our highly regarded PGCE General Primary with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) guides you through your transition from student to Early Career Teacher. This internationally recognized PGCE qualification, combined with QTS, equips you with research-backed teaching practices. Our program delivers the essential skills, knowledge, and understanding to meet the dynamic challenges of primary education.
Upon graduation, you'll be fully qualified to begin teaching in primary schools immediately. Building on our esteemed PGCE General Primary foundation, this Mathematics specialization helps refine your teaching methods to lead math instruction in primary settings. This distinctive pathway empowers you to enhance pupils' mathematical achievements and optimize their learning potential.
Your training combines theoretical study with practical application, all within the National Curriculum framework. You'll examine mathematical concepts and core principles while developing general primary teaching strategies, enabling you to create and deliver captivating lessons for children aged 5-11.
More than 50% of the course involves assessed classroom placements, blending school-based enrichment with university study. You'll complete three diverse school placements, accumulating valuable experience to propel your professional growth.
Normally a first degree, or equivalent with a minimum of 2:2 honours.
Three GCSEs at minimum grade C/4 or above to include English Language or Literature, Mathematics and Science (including biology, chemistry or physics).
A satisfactory academic (university) reference AND a satisfactory professional reference if more than three years since academic study.
All candidates must demonstrate professional suitability through interview and must obtain medical and enhanced DBS clearance according to established university procedures.
