Our BSc (Hons) Forensic and Criminological Psychology program provides comprehensive training in psychological fundamentals while exploring the core concepts of forensic and criminal psychology within the context of the UK justice system. This practical course utilizes our state-of-the-art £30m Science Centre, where you'll develop professional skills in specialized labs featuring advanced resources like cognitive research cubicles, observation facilities, IT labs, and psychophysiological equipment in our Psychology Human Sciences Suite. At Staffordshire University, you'll learn evidence-gathering techniques, analytical methods, and receive constructive feedback to refine your abilities.
With strong career preparation in mind, the curriculum incorporates forensic methodologies including physiological response analysis during interviews and video scenarios. A work placement component allows you to gain professional experience in fields like corrections, healthcare, victim advocacy, and related sectors.
Additionally, the program offers digital skill development and networking opportunities through guest lectures and connections with fellow students.
Graduates of this program are well-prepared for advanced postgraduate studies in psychology.
We encourage psychology students to pursue volunteer roles with nonprofit organizations addressing critical social issues such as homelessness, mental health, and substance abuse.
Past students have volunteered with notable organizations including Girlguiding UK, Oxfam, Change, Grow, Live (children's rights services), and Catch 22 (support for abuse victims and missing children). Many have also contributed to educational settings, assisting youth in schools and nurseries throughout Stoke-On-Trent and neighboring regions.
Students consistently report that their volunteer experiences are among the most rewarding aspects of their education, allowing them to make meaningful community contributions while acquiring practical work skills.
