Pursuing a Forensic Science degree at ARU provides comprehensive training in forensic principles, guiding you through every stage from crime scene investigation to courtroom proceedings. Our international, multidisciplinary faculty brings expertise in analytical chemistry, forensic anthropology, toxicology, forensic genetics, and crime scene investigation.

Experience practical learning through our Live Briefs initiative, tackling real-world forensic challenges and developing solutions that appeal to potential employers. Gain valuable hands-on practice in our crime scene simulation rooms and utilize cutting-edge equipment in our SuperLab, while also participating in mock courtroom exercises. Under expert supervision, you'll work with advanced analytical tools and extend your learning beyond campus through visits to legal courts, mortuaries, and collaborations with police departments and forensic laboratories. The curriculum includes working with actual forensic materials like fire accelerant residues and trace evidence such as fibers and paint samples. You'll master various techniques including microscopy, spectroscopy, chromatography, and microspectrophotometry, while having access to specialized biological analysis equipment outside scheduled classes.

Qualification Requirements

5 GCSEs at grade D, or grade 3, or above and evidence of two years post-GCSE study at Level 3.
If you have achieved at least grade E in one A level, or equivalent, you are exempt from the two years post-GCSE study requirement, but you still must meet the GCSE requirements.
Applicants who do not meet the two years post GCSE study at level 3 may be considered based on their satisfactory employment history, which must be a minimum of two years full time employment supported by employer evidence and deemed appropriate by the University for meeting the course of study applied for.
If English is not your first language you will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 5.5 (Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.
