The PhD program, available in Psychology or Neuroscience, is a research-focused degree typically completed in 3 years (or 6 years part-time). Students work under the guidance of one or more faculty members from the School, culminating in a thesis of up to 80,000 words and an oral defense (viva). The School of Psychology and Neuroscience provides both PhD and MSc (research) programs. Studies in these fields generally align with four primary research areas: cellular and developmental neuroscience, cognitive origins, perception and action systems, and social/group dynamics.
This research team examines intergroup relations, moral psychology, emotional processes, personality traits, and inhibitory mechanisms in social cognition and memory. Their work employs diverse methods, including experimental approaches with human participants, conducted both domestically and internationally (e.g., in India). The findings contribute to our knowledge of social interactions and clinical conditions like depression.
