The Master of Science by Research program in Biomedical Sciences is a one-year, research-focused degree where students conduct a supervised project within the broad field of Biomedical Sciences at the University of St Andrews' School of Biology. Students will work within the Biomedical Sciences Research Complex (BSRC), located at the North Haugh Science Campus, which fosters interdisciplinary collaboration among research groups. The BSRC specializes in eleven key biomedical research areas, utilizing cutting-edge methods to explore pressing questions in biomedical and biological sciences. These research themes include Biophysics, Chemical Biology, Chemistry, Enzymology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Molecular Medicine, Parasitology, Structural Biology, Translational Biology, and Virology. By integrating expertise from molecular biologists, chemists, computer scientists, geneticists, bioinformaticians, and clinicians, the BSRC advances our knowledge of disease—from fundamental biological mechanisms to therapeutic applications.
