This Master of Science program equips students with advanced knowledge of marine ecosystems, examining the relationships between physical environments, biodiversity, and human influences. Delivered by distinguished researchers from the Scottish Oceans Institute, it prepares graduates for careers in scientific research and environmental management. The one-year Marine Ecosystem Management MSc, offered by the School of Biology, adopts an integrated approach to studying ecosystem functions and services, leveraging the University's quantitative expertise through the Scottish Oceans Institute (SOI). The curriculum features rigorous training in analytical methods (including statistical modeling and GIS applications). Participants gain hands-on experience through local fieldwork and boat-based instruction (covered by tuition fees), with optional international field courses (additional costs apply) available in Antarctica (polar ecology studies) or Indonesia (scientific diving certification). The program's structure combines mandatory courses with specialized electives, enabling personalized study paths. Features interactive, small-group learning with emphasis on practical, student-centered education.
