This cross-disciplinary program provides students with an understanding of diverse theoretical perspectives and contemporary discussions across history, art history, theology, languages, and literature. Participants can pursue subjects aligned with their personal interests while broadening their academic scope beyond a single field. Builds upon the distinguished Medieval Studies traditions within contributing departments including Art History, Theology, English, History, Modern Languages, and Philosophy. Enables students to collaborate with experts spanning a wide chronological range from Late Antiquity to the 15th century, covering geographical regions from the Middle East and Mediterranean to Northern Europe. Explores various methodological approaches, ongoing scholarly discussions, and the essence of interdisciplinary research in historical, artistic, linguistic, and literary studies. Provides options to integrate manuscript studies and paleography training with either interdisciplinary projects or specialized courses. Features weekly seminar sessions and frequent workshops that facilitate direct engagement with visiting scholars.
