The MLitt in Biblical Languages and Literature enables students with prior knowledge of Biblical languages to enhance their linguistic and interpretive abilities through in-depth analysis of Biblical texts and concepts. This one-year postgraduate program, delivered by the School of Divinity, emphasizes textual criticism while developing advanced Hebrew and Greek language skills. Students will master working with critical text editions and learn essential methodologies in Biblical studies. The curriculum concentrates on studying original biblical manuscripts and utilizing critical apparatuses from Hebrew Bible, Septuagint, and New Testament editions, laying groundwork for advanced research. Participants will achieve greater command of Hebrew and Greek grammar and syntax while developing a nuanced understanding of biblical textual evolution. The program teaches how to apply textual analysis within wider biblical, historical, and theological contexts.
Full-time duration: 12 months.
