This program is designed to create study opportunities at St Andrews for talented Scottish students facing disadvantages that may have prevented them from achieving the standard top grades typically required. It specifically supports individuals from secondary schools with historically low university enrollment rates and those residing in areas identified by the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation. With traditional program admissions becoming increasingly competitive, our grade requirements have risen to levels that may challenge even highly capable students across Scotland. To bridge this gap, we've established a Gateway entry pathway offering an engaging first-year curriculum focused on physics, mathematics, and academic skills development. Successful completion enables progression to second-year studies across various physics-related degree options, from theoretical to applied physics. The inaugural Gateway modules typically accommodate approximately 15 students annually.
