This program offers an in-depth exploration of Modern Languages (German and Spanish) and International Relations through research-focused studies, enabling students to comprehend how knowledge evolves and progresses. Participants will develop a passion for self-directed learning characterized by curiosity, precision, and academic excellence. Spanning 60 months, the course culminates in a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 540 credits (typically 120 per academic year). The initial two years focus on mandatory program-specific modules alongside elective options (potentially including interdisciplinary selections). Subsequent years emphasize advanced, research-driven coursework tailored to the program's specialized curriculum. The first two years combine core program modules with optional choices (sometimes from other faculties), while later years concentrate on specialized, research-oriented studies aligned with the program's objectives.
