This program offers an in-depth exploration of Modern Languages (German and Italian) and Greek at an advanced, research-focused level, enabling students to comprehend how knowledge evolves, progresses, and is revitalized. It fosters independent learning among all participants, emphasizing curiosity, precision, academic integrity, and intellectual discipline. Spanning 60 months, the curriculum culminates in a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 540 credits over the duration, typically earning 120 credits per academic year. The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific core modules with elective options (sometimes including interdisciplinary Faculty selections). Subsequent years deliver specialized, research-driven instruction through tailored modules. The first two years blend essential program-focused courses with diverse electives (potentially from other Faculties), while later years concentrate on advanced, discipline-specific research learning.
