This program offers an in-depth exploration of Modern Languages (French and Russian) and Latin at an advanced, research-focused level, enabling students to comprehend how knowledge evolves, progresses, and is revitalized. It fosters independent learning among all participants, cultivating curiosity, precision, academic integrity, and intellectual discipline. Spanning 48 months, the curriculum culminates in a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 480 credits over four years, typically earning 120 credits annually. The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific courses with elective options (sometimes including interdisciplinary Faculty offerings). The final years emphasize advanced, research-driven education through specialized modules tailored to the program. The first two years blend core program requirements with diverse elective choices (potentially incorporating cross-Faculty courses), while the latter stages focus on specialized, research-oriented study through program-specific advanced modules.
