This program offers an in-depth exploration of Modern Languages (French and Russian) and Latin through advanced, research-focused study. Students will develop insights into how knowledge evolves, progresses, and is revitalized. The curriculum fosters independent learning, emphasizing curiosity, precision, academic integrity, and rigorous scholarship. Spanning 60 months, it culminates in a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 540 credits (typically 120 per academic year). The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific courses with elective options, potentially including interdisciplinary Faculty offerings. Subsequent years focus on specialized, research-driven modules tailored to the program's academic objectives. The first two years blend core program requirements with diverse electives (sometimes from other Faculties), while later years concentrate on advanced, discipline-specific research learning.
