This program offers an in-depth exploration of Modern Languages (French and Russian) and International Relations through research-focused studies, enabling students to comprehend how knowledge evolves and progresses. Participants will develop a passion for self-directed learning characterized by curiosity, precision, and academic excellence. Spanning 60 months, this course culminates in a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 540 credits—typically 120 per academic year. The initial two years focus on core program-specific modules alongside elective options (sometimes including interdisciplinary courses). Subsequent years emphasize advanced, research-driven studies tailored to the program's specialized curriculum. The first two years combine mandatory subjects with diverse electives (potentially from other faculties), while later stages concentrate on specialized, research-oriented coursework.
