This program offers an in-depth exploration of Modern Languages (French and Russian) and English at an advanced, research-focused level, enabling students to comprehend how knowledge evolves, progresses, and is revitalized. It fosters independent learning among all participants, emphasizing curiosity, precision, academic integrity, and intellectual discipline. Spanning 60 months, the curriculum culminates in a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 540 credits over the duration, typically earning 120 credits per academic year. The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific modules with elective options, sometimes including interdisciplinary courses from other Faculties. The subsequent years focus on advanced, research-driven education through specialized modules tailored to the program. The first two years integrate core program modules with a selection of electives, potentially incorporating cross-disciplinary studies. The later years deliver specialized, research-oriented instruction through program-specific coursework.
