As an MA (Hons) French student, you'll refine your language and communication abilities to an advanced proficiency level. The program offers exploration of specialized subjects such as French linguistics, literature, cultural studies, history, political science, and cinema. In your third year, you can participate in study abroad opportunities at one of the University's Erasmus partner institutions in France. This curriculum combines advanced study of Modern Languages (French and Italian) and Greek, featuring research-driven learning that demonstrates how knowledge evolves and progresses. The program fosters independent scholarship characterized by curiosity, academic integrity, precision, and rigorous thinking. Spanning 60 months, this course leads to a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 540 credits (typically 120 per academic year). The initial two years incorporate both program-specific core modules and elective options (sometimes including cross-faculty courses), while subsequent years focus on advanced, research-oriented study through specialized program modules.
