This program offers an in-depth exploration of Modern Languages (French and Russian) and English through advanced, research-focused studies, enabling students to comprehend how knowledge evolves, progresses, and is revitalized. It fosters independent learning among all participants, emphasizing curiosity, precision, academic integrity, and intellectual discipline. Spanning 48 months, the curriculum culminates in a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 480 credits—typically 120 per academic year. The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific courses with elective options (sometimes including interdisciplinary Faculty selections). Subsequent years focus on specialized, research-driven modules tailored to the program. The first two years blend core subjects with diverse electives (potentially from other Faculties), while later years emphasize advanced, program-aligned research learning.
