This program offers an in-depth exploration of Modern Languages (Arabic and Russian) and International Relations through research-focused studies, enabling students to comprehend how knowledge evolves, progresses, and revitalizes. It fosters independent learning among all participants, emphasizing curiosity, precision, academic integrity, and intellectual discipline. Spanning 60 months, this course culminates in a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules. Students are required to complete 540 credits throughout the program, typically earning 120 credits annually. The initial two years feature compulsory program-specific modules alongside elective options (sometimes including interdisciplinary Faculty offerings). Subsequent years focus on advanced, research-driven education through specialized curriculum modules. The first two years incorporate essential program-specific courses along with various electives (potentially from other Faculties), while the later years provide tailored, research-oriented instruction.
