The MA (Hons) in Medieval History is a four-year program offered by the School of History. During the initial two years, students explore the medieval era by examining the political and social structures of Britain, Europe, and the Middle East from approximately 500 to 1500 AD. This foundation provides comprehensive insight into key historical themes and scholarly approaches, while developing skills in analyzing primary sources. The curriculum combines advanced, research-focused study of Medieval History with Persian, fostering an appreciation for how knowledge evolves through academic inquiry. Students cultivate independent learning habits characterized by curiosity, precision, and intellectual discipline. This 48-month course culminates in a Master of Arts (Honours) degree, requiring completion of 480 credits (typically 120 credits annually). The first two years feature core program modules alongside elective options (sometimes including cross-faculty courses), while later years emphasize specialized, research-driven study tailored to the discipline.
