This program offers advanced study of German and Russian through research-focused instruction, enabling students to explore how knowledge is developed, expanded, and revitalized. It fosters independent learning among all participants, emphasizing curiosity, integrity, precision, and academic rigor. Spanning 48 months, the curriculum leads to a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 480 credits (typically 120 per academic year). The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific courses with elective options, which may include interdisciplinary selections. The final years focus on specialized, research-driven coursework tailored to the program. The first two years blend core subjects with diverse electives (potentially from other faculties), while the latter stages deliver advanced, program-centric research modules.
