The MA (Hons) in English program trains students to critically analyze diverse literary works spanning various genres and historical periods, while exploring the cultural ideas, human values, and historical contexts that influenced them. This four-year degree, offered by the School of English, begins with two foundational years where students examine a wide spectrum of literature from medieval times to contemporary works. This broad exposure develops essential analytical skills for specialized Honours-level studies. During the first year, students must select two additional subjects alongside English, typically continuing with at least one into their second year. The curriculum emphasizes interdisciplinary learning - Single Honours students must complete modules covering Medieval, Early Modern, and 18th-century literature. The program culminates with a final-year dissertation, where students research a topic of their choice with guidance from faculty.
