This program offers advanced study of Arabic and Spanish, including an Integrated Year Abroad, with a focus on research-driven learning where students explore how knowledge is developed, expanded, and refreshed. It fosters independent learning among all participants, promoting curiosity, precision, academic integrity, and intellectual discipline. Spanning 60 months, the course leads to a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 540 credits—typically 120 per academic year. The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific courses with elective options (sometimes from other faculties). Subsequent years focus on specialized, research-oriented modules that deepen subject expertise. The first two years blend core program requirements with diverse electives (potentially from other faculties), while later years emphasize advanced, discipline-specific research learning.
