Gain the clinical expertise and professional competencies required to pursue a career in audiology healthcare. Our institution stands out as the sole UK university featuring on-campus audiology and auditory implant clinics. Hearing impairments, deafness, tinnitus, and balance disorders represent significant health concerns that substantially affect life quality. You'll acquire the knowledge to treat these conditions and assist patients while honing academic, professional, and career-ready skills. The audiology program covers both the biopsychosocial and technical aspects of the field, along with the broader scientific, technical, healthcare, and professional competencies essential for transitioning from university to becoming a practicing audiologist.
During this audiology degree, you'll participate in hands-on training within our specialized skills lab and clinical settings. A 27-week clinical placement forms a crucial part of your audiologist education. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to conduct in-depth research into a specific area of clinical practice that captures your interest. After successfully completing your first year of the BSc audiology program, you become eligible to register as a Hearing Care Assistant (HCA), enabling you to undertake paid audiology support roles throughout the remainder of your studies. The option to switch to part-time study in year three allows for extending your placement duration if preferred.
This course holds accreditation from the National School of Healthcare as a Practitioner Training Programme (PTP).
