Wildlife biology explores living organisms, their behaviors, ecosystems, habitats, and conservation strategies. USW's distinctive International Wildlife Biology program allows you to examine and analyze biological processes that shape species diversity and distribution, their reactions to environmental factors, and how to apply modern scientific approaches to wildlife research and management in evolving global ecosystems. This International Wildlife Biology course emphasizes hands-on fieldwork, offering immersive learning experiences across three continents. Students will observe wildlife and ecosystems in South Africa, a mandatory part of the curriculum. Additionally, scientific skills are honed during UK field excursions, with optional opportunities to practice research methods in the tropical forests and coral reefs of Asia or Central America. Key topics include tracking large game, conservation genetics, wildlife management, ecology, vertebrate zoology, and aquatic biology.
The BSc (Hons) International Wildlife Biology degree provides comprehensive training in both traditional and cutting-edge laboratory, field, analytical, and research techniques, preparing students for careers in ecological consulting, wildlife conservation, education, or advanced academic pursuits. This program also develops versatile skills applicable to various professions. Numerous graduates continue their education with a Research Masters or PhD at our institution.
