The Foundation program in Forensic Science is designed for students who don't qualify for direct entry into the BSc (Hons) Forensic Science degree. The program begins with a foundational year offering structured support to help you build essential scientific skills and knowledge. This Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences-accredited course emphasizes career readiness, covering the full investigative process from crime scene to courtroom. After completing a shared first-year curriculum, students can select either the Analytical or Biology Forensic Science track in their second and third years based on their interests. The program provides training in standard crime scene investigation methods, evidence analysis techniques, and data interpretation. You'll explore specialized forensic disciplines like criminalistics, chemistry, biology, anthropology, major incident investigation, and toxicology. With its rigorous scientific foundation, this Forensic Science program prepares graduates for diverse scientific careers.
During the Forensic Science degree, you'll develop a valuable set of practical skills sought by employers. You'll train using the same equipment and methodologies as professional forensic scientists, giving you a competitive edge in the job market. Our graduates possess transferable skills applicable to various scientific fields including chemical and pharmaceutical industries, or for advanced studies like Masters, PhD programs, or accelerated medical degrees.
