This course provides an introduction to the fundamental subjects required for developing a critical grasp of contemporary English law. You'll also acquire practical insights into how legal systems function and adapt within society, preparing you with essential skills for a legal career.
Develop your analytical perspective on modern English law, its societal role, historical progression, and its power to transform lives through legal practice.

Starting with core legal principles in your first year, you'll tailor this degree to your interests and professional goals in subsequent years—selecting from specialized modules such as international law, human rights, or criminal law and evidence.

At Sheffield, you can opt to spend your third year studying abroad at one of our partner institutions, gaining exposure to different legal frameworks. Alternatively, gain hands-on experience locally through Sheffield's pro bono initiatives.

The program's backbone is the Core Legal and Study Skills module, spanning all three years and covering mooting, career preparation workshops, and academic skill development. Designed to build your confidence, this module doesn't contribute to your final assessment.

However you personalize your studies, you'll graduate equipped with the specialized knowledge and competencies needed to pursue a career in law.
